Bylaws

The Officers

The offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer will be considered traditional with those offices. An Officer's duty list will be given to each officer.

General Business

All the general business of the organization will be conducted by the officers and advisors. If an issue comes up that cannot be agreed upon, the issue can be dropped or presented to the membership where a simple majority will rule.

Elections

Elections will be held every two years at our November meeting. We will elect a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Webmaster, and three-four Advisors. Candidates running for these positions must announce their intentions before Election Day so that their names can be placed on the ballot. Elected candidates will take their seats in January of the following year. They will hold office for a period of two years and will return all files, containers, and books pertinent to the club in a timely manner.

Membership and Dues

Dues are $15.00 per year, January to January. New members who join in December, January, February, and March will be charged $15.00; those who join in April, May, June, and July will be charged $10.00; and those who join in August, September, October, and November will be charged $5.00. Payment of dues entitles members to vote in elections, be included on the mailing list, to receive our electronic newsletter, to be on our published book list, to have their bios, pictures, reviews on our website, and their books displayed at our meetings. If they choose, they may also be listed on our speakers' list. Any member who fails to renew their membership and pay their dues will have their name and advertising removed from our roster and website. Each individual is expected to pay their fair share of any cost associated with their participation in any activities they attend. Guests are always welcome.

Expenditures

Speakers will receive $10.00 to pay for their meals and a chance to sell a few of their books or hand out their materials, etc. Incidental expenditures $25.00 and under will be approved by the treasurer, and expenditures $25.01 and over will be approved by the elected officers and advisors. Recurring expenses such as the annual registration with the Washington State Secretary of State as a non-profit corporation, the annual payment for the Post Office Box, expenses for the newsletter, etc. do not need approval and should simply be paid.

Changes to Bylaws

These bylaws can be changed or amended at any general meeting by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present.
