Bylaws

 

 

The Board of Directors

The board of directors will consist of eight members in good standing who will be elected by the membership at the November meeting and will take their positions following the December meeting each year. The board of directors will consist of the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and the positions of the Webmaster, and Newsletter Editor. They will hold office for a period of one year, and will return all files, containers, and books pertinent to the club in a timely manner.  (Amended October 28, 2006, September 7, 2006 and October 11, 2007)

 

General Business

All the general business of the organization will be conducted by the board by unanimous vote.  If an issue does not have unanimous support of the board it will be dropped or presented to the membership where a simple majority will rule. The board can appoint committees and committee heads as needed and those committees will present their recommendations to the board for approval.

 

The Officers

The offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer will be decided on by the board at the first board meeting after the elections. The duties of the officers will be considered traditional with those offices, and the Officers duties list will be given to each officer. Speaker expenditures will be approved by the board. Incidental expenditures under $50 will be approved by the board. (Amended October 5, 2006 by the board)

 

Elections

The board will appoint a nominating committee made up of two board members and one other member not on the board who will present four names for election to the board of directors.

 

Each member will have four votes with which to vote for the four individuals presented by the nominating committee or for anyone nominated and seconded, by a member present, from the floor on the day of the elections.

 

Membership and Dues

Dues are $15.00 per year, January to January. New members in December will automatically be considered paid through the following year. Payment of dues entitles members to vote in elections, be included on the mailing list, to receive our electronic newsletter and postcard, be on our published book list, and have their bio’s, pictures, reviews on our website, have their books displayed at our meetings. There will be a grace period of three months for renewing members to pay their dues before their name and advertising is removed from our roster and website. Each individual is expected to pay their fair share of any cost associated with their participation in any activities they attend. Guests are always welcome. Changes to Bylaws

These bylaws can be changed or amended at any general meeting by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present.

Ratified by the membership on December 2, 1999.

Amended 2 November 2000:  First sentence amended to read --- at the last meeting of the year --- to allow the voting in of a new board at the last meeting of the year.

Amended December 1, 2005, March 9, 2006, and September 7, 2006 officer’s duties, membership dues and entitlements by the board members. Amended October 5, 2006 expenditures. Amended October 11, 2007 to allow the voting in of new officers at the November meeting each year, and removed the clubs purchase of author’s books for drawings.
