MOLLY SATY

Poet

Molly, a lover and writer of poetry is a retired teacher. Summers she lives rurally at her river home near the small town of Newport.  She draws poetic inspiration from the seasonal change of locations…from the lush Pend Orielle area to the stark mountains and desert near her Peoria, Arizona home, and finds poems in the varied spaces and situations between.

Always a casual writer of poetry, she was inspired as a young woman by the Northwest poetry movement of the 1970’s and teachers like David Wagoner, Hugo, Roethke, and Primus St. John.

Since retiring 15 years ago, she has become a serious and award winning poet, winning 10 out of 72 awards plus the theme poem at the AZ State Poetry Fall Convention 2005. Her poetry is popular with people who say they didn’t realize they liked poetry. She gives lectures to club groups and spreads the joy of poetry every way she can.

She is a member of Washington Poets, and active in the Arizona State Poetry Society, plays golf and bridge, travels with her husband Bob, has lots of company and volunteers in a high school summer program.

Her first book-length manuscript is now being edited.
