Al Jack Dymond
I was born on a ranch in 1926 that bordered the horse Heaven
Hill's in Washington State. Depression came
and my folks lost ten years of hard work, horses and stock. I moved to Spokane at age five and
lived in the city and out of the city while growing up. I owned one horse that
I learned to ride good enough to jump park benches at Comstock Park and out-run the
posse (one patrol car). I served two years in the Air force—state side. I boxed
there as an unbeaten amateur. A boxing promoter said go pro, and I said no. I
worked as a telegrapher in Oregon and Montana for a time. I
worked at a couple of different ranches. In 1950 I married a wonderful farm
girl from Winona, Washington. I’m still
happily married with four grown off-spring and 13 grandchildren. I built a
house on Orchard Prairie in 1978. I used to fish and hunt some. I play at golf
if not too many trees. I have written one little cowboy poetry book, Horses, Cattle and Men, an article for
Nostalgia, and am working on a novel. I’m a member of Palouse City Cowboy Poets
and Charlie Russell's Western Heritage group.
