Connie Causey

I live in North Spokane near Mead HS on about 2 treed acres of property with my husband of 26 years, Doug, who is a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, and my 22 year old adopted Korean son, Daniel, who is currently getting his general credits out of the way at SFCC before going on to the University of Washington. Daniel intends to pursue a career in International Business.

Preceding his ten years at the U.S.G.S., my husband Doug worked with SASP member Bob Weldin at the U.S. Bureau of Mines for twenty years. I worked in banking for about six years, most of it with Seattle-First National Bank, as well as some time at the Washington Mutual Savings and First Interstate Bank. Between them, I worked in several different departments at large and small branches in Spokane, Cheney, and Seattle. Interspersed with banking, I have been a student at SFCC and EWU for a total of about eight years. At SFCC, I took some Commercial Art classes, plus a year of Commercial Photography, which I dearly loved. I also had a year of Graphic Design there as well, later increasing my knowledge of that media with an intense quarter of Graphic Communications at EWU.

I originally started classes at EWU in 1975, got married and raised my son, then recently returned for two more years to pursue a degree in Creative Writing. I love being creative in almost any media, but I now believe that writing is where it is at for me. I have truly enjoyed the literature, poetry, and writing classes I've had at EWU, and I am now doing my best to learn the craft of novel writing, although I admit that I am very intrigued by the idea of playwriting and screenplay writing as well. I would even love to try my hand at songwriting, something my husband has encouraged me to pursue since, for some reason, he has liked some of the crazy song ideas I've had. Also, my family is holding me to a promise I made of doing a children's book about my great-niece, so you might say that I simply want to do it all. I guess time will tell what will actually capture my time and dedication the most. I can't wait to find out myself. I enjoy a good mystery, or a love story, sci-fi, thriller, comedy...
